What are we supposed to be paying attention to?

I don't know. I feel like a little plate spinner who spends all day spinning plates on the sidewalk in the city for money people might toss into my plate-cases, and the occasional stint on the evening talk shows - you know, spinning plates, the frisbee lookin things on top of the pool-que lookin things - but there also is a piano suspended above my plate spinning area - and the rest of the city, for that matter - and there's really nothing I can do about it, because I wasn't consulted when the decisions about piano-hanging were being made, and I didn't buy the rope or suspend it, or do anything even remotely having to do with pianos. Politically/philosophically, I agree that there are problems, but really would rather not have solved them with pianos hanging from the sky. But I'm just a little plate-spinner guy, and people don't ask plate-spinner guys about problems or pianos, or even really plate-spinning because there are so many plate-spinners. Perhaps I'd like to think that I spin with more flare or reflection, but everyone else is so busy spinning their respective plates or staring at the piano that they don't really notice, and I don't expect them to. So should we say the same things about the piano that everyone else is saying, keeping one hand on the plates? So, how bout that piano? Pretty big, huh? Yup.

Does anyone know

how you can get a job training dogs to sniff out things? If anyone actually knows this, please e-mail me, please.

It's my brother's birthday today. He goes off to college tomorrow. Things are indeed changing on many, many levels.

why isn't anyone talking about Israel, and the Palestinians, and the Six Days War, and the Yom Kippur war?

there are sirens every 5 minutes here. police everywhere. helicopters. and this is ohio.

why do they keep showing them falling?

what is the point of eliminating curbside luggage checks?

the one thing in common with what bloggers seem to be saying is that things will be different from now on.

they kept reminding us that this is real, not a movie, or a simulation, or visually enhanced. what does that say about what normalcy is?

why can't I stop watching?

what are the helicopters doing for God's sake?

for the families of the victims, all i can think to offer are tears and non-secular prayers. if you need anything else, just ask.

As if it weren't enough that every television in the apartment is on and tuned to the football game, every five minutes or so, noise erupts from my family members similar to the noise they would make were they being repeatedly beaten and then tickled, mingled with words like "touchdown," "interception," and the all purpose "OHHHHHH!"

Why do I find these drawings fascinating?

I am a boring and meaningless black hole.

Friend, if you're out there, e-mail me. Yes, you.
